Behind the scenes of the creation of Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 02.08.2022

Behind each stamp collection is a highly organized team and a large amount of work. This week, Julien Jordan, product owner for Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0, gives us a look behind the scenes at the creation of this new collection, which pays tribute to Swiss cinema.

Hello, Julien. Can you tell us a bit about where the idea for Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 came from?

The idea of a joint project emerged during a conversation between Swiss Post CEO Roberto Cirillo and Marco Solari, President of the Locarno Film Festival. Swiss Post was looking for an exciting and appealing theme for its second collection of crypto stamps. So the festival, a long-standing partner of Swiss Post, suggested involving Swiss directors.

Why did Swiss Post want to offer its customers a second collection of crypto stamps?

The first collection launched in 2021 and was a resounding success. The entire stock sold out in just a few hours! Swiss Post wanted to recreate the experience and offer its customers new opportunities to buy crypto stamps.

What is this collection all about?

The Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 collection is a true homage to Swiss film-making. The Locarno Film Festival provided a list of ten up-and-coming Swiss directors. These artists explored what Switzerland means to them and created ten short videos, which became the Swiss Crypto Stamp 2.0 NFTs. We then asked an illustrator to turn those videos into ten stamps.

What happened during the illustration phase?

In their short films, the directors delivered very modern and abstract interpretations of what Switzerland means to them. To turn these into physical stamps, we called on an illustrator. Corina Vögele lives near Lucerne. She has a soft, colourful style and does a lot of work with collage illustrations. Her creations really complement the directors’ work.

Thank you, Julien!

The stamps can now be viewed online, and sales will begin on 8 August: Crypto Stamp 2.0 (swisspost.ch)
