Host: Chalet Bijou+Target not accessible

One day, Marmi sets off for Lenk im Simmental where he sees a chalet for the first time. Marmi wants one just like it for his 20-strong family.

The wooden mountain chalet is exactly to Marmi’s taste. Marmi and his family feel most at home in the Alps. The chalet would be a good hibernation spot compared to their usual dark den, Marmi thinks. Or maybe they could spend their holidays there? It’s a place that people – and soon Marmi’s family – could use as a base when discovering the region.

Chalets are traditionally made of local wood, are often decorated, and have a distinctive balcony. The chalet’s flat pitched roof with a wide overhang looks a little like a cap with a brim. Marmi smiles and starts drawing up a plan. Marmi is good at home design, since he’s also responsible for designing and building the burrows and branching tunnels of his underground home. But now he wants to try something different and build his own chalet. Marmi gathers up his tools and a chalet construction kit.

With the proper tools, eye and ear protection, gloves and steel-toed boots, Marmi gets to work on his new chalet in full compliance with the applicable health and safety standards. It will be a challenge because Marmi isn’t very fast. But the marmot also doesn’t realize that he needs a permit. Underground, he just burrows wherever he pleases. And it’s such hard work! Marmi vows to help his family in the future.
